Pre-LASIK Preparation: What to Do Before Your Surgery

How to Prepare Yourself for Your LASIK Vision Correction

What to do before your LASIK Vision Correction? Well, your doctor will probably give you a list of what to do and what not to do during the days leading up to your important surgery. But if you want to know the basics of pre-LASIK preparation, here are some things you should know.

Find Out About What to Do Before LASIK Surgery

• Weeks Before Operation
The success of a LASIK surgery depends upon the accuracy in which a doctor is able to measure your cornea. And because contact lenses affect the natural shape of your cornea, you are required to slowly wean yourself away from them during the weeks leading up to your operation.

Four weeks before your surgery, switch from hard contact lenses to gas-permeable ones. On third week, use soft lenses in replacement of the gas-permeable contacts. Two weeks before the day of your surgery, you’ll have to wear glasses instead.

• A Day Before Operation
Refrain from using make-up, powder, or any cream or perfume that you apply to your face. Keep your face clean. You don’t want irritants to find their way to your eyes at this point.

• The Day of the Operation
Like the previous day, avoid putting anything on your face. Keep your hair neatly tied back to avoid your hair from falling into your face. Eat a light meal before going to the hospital.

Follow these tips and those your doctor will give and you’ll have a successful LASIK surgery. Good luck!
