Risks of Wearing Contact Lenses

Many people prefer wearing contact lenses than wearing corrective eye glasses or having lasik surgery because they find it more convenient to wear and they don’t like to look like a college professor or a geek. People who have active lifestyles such as athletes choose to wear contact lenses. Also, people who are wearing formal clothes don’t like to wear eye glasses so they buy contact lenses instead.

Although there are many benefits in wearing contact lenses, there are also risks. Some of the effects of wearing contact lenses are the following:

  • Production of too much tear
  • Itchy eyes
  • Burning sensation in the eyes
  • Sensitive to the glare of light
  • Blurred vision
  • Corneal Ulcers
  • Blindness

Those who have problems with their vision should take this into consideration when choosing among contact lenses, eyeglasses or lasik eye surgery to treat their vision condition.
